Macro rationale
NEUTRAL, held. Evidence: (1) The extension escalator is active (QQQ +11.17% vs its 200-day, SPY +7.69%), which raises the cash ceiling to 30%. It does not argue for more risk. (2) The VIX term structure is calm (15.41/18.08, 0.85 contango) and options skew is moderate, so there is no stress signal and no reason for risk-off. (3) Real yields are up 41bp in a month to 2.87%, the dollar is +2.41% over the month and WTI is $96 with a fresh Hormuz tanker strike. That combination keeps the higher-for-longer and oil-tail read from the monthly paper alive, and it penalises long-duration biology and crowded AI multiples. (4) Breadth is still narrow (38% of sectors above their 50-day, equal-weight -2.84pp vs SPY), with financials (-5.76pp) and defense (-7.49pp) lagging. (5) Hedge posture stays at maximum: the oil shock is live, and gold and copper hedges are doing their job against real-yield pressure. Core live gauges (VIX level, 2s10s, 10y, credit spreads) were partly unavailable, but nothing that is available points to credit stress, and credit spreads remain calm. Cash moves from 20.8% to 19.3%, still inside the base NEUTRAL 10-20% band and above the 19% working reserve. Two named causes drive it: the proceeds of the ARGX re-underwrite are banked, and they fund the first foundation open (CME). I did not use the escalator headroom. With no stress signal, the right amount of cash is base-band cash.
Thesis
Weekly IC. I re-underwrote the whole book; 16 holds are copied at entry weight and there are two changes. (1) TRIM ARGX 3.79% → 1.79%. Last run's unexplained -14% gap now has a named cause: on Oct 8 argenx halted its Phase 3 UNITY trial of Vyvgart in Sjögren's disease for futility. That is verbatim one of the unwind conditions I wrote. Arguing both sides: the commercial gMG/CIDP franchise is intact (Q2 beat, ~60% growth), FB102 hit its celiac endpoint, and the Street calls the selloff overdone because Sjögren's was not in estimates. But the label-expansion leg, which justified the size, lost its largest indication, and the finalized GLOBE Part B rebate model touches clinician-administered biologics. I keep the core and cut the size. That leans with the regime's -4pp biology tilt. A myositis miss would close it. (2) OPEN CME 3.5% as the first foundation name, from a current dossier with a "proceed" red-team verdict. I answer the bear case directly: FMX has not won share and volatility normalising is the base case, not a break. CME also answers the operator's financials blind-spot note with a single durable franchise rather than an ETF. Cash goes 20.8% → 19.3%, funded by the ARGX proceeds, and stays inside the base band and above the reserve. I checked the GLOBE shock for LLY/VRTX: it is Part B-only, narrowed, starts in 2027, and causes no break. The IT sector sits at 29.4%, a warning but not a breach, and CME adds none. AI-load is unchanged at 29.1%. Hedges: SCCO, NEM. I wrote
Committee
Financials are the book's blind spot: we hold 0% in the sector, and every current return driver is a pillar or AI-adjacent. I'm nominating XLF as a general / durable_value position for three reasons: (1) diversification — a genuinely separate return driver for the ≥5-driver check that adds nothing to the AI-load cluster; (2) rates — a steeper 2s10s and a higher-for-longer front end support bank net interest margins; (3) valuation — my read is financials still trade at a discount to the market on forward earnings; verify that against current data before acting. I know STRATEGY §4 permits sector ETFs only where they map to one pillar, and XLF maps to none. Weigh that openly: if you judge the rule binds, say so and name the individual financial franchise you would rather own instead. A starter position is enough. This is a view to answer, not an order.
note: Longer-term idea, not urgent: MCD is beaten down, pays a dependable dividend, and I think the product refresh turns it. A general-classification compounder at a rare discount.

note: META just had a +33% month and was never on our radar. I want the committee to look at whether the ad engine's leverage on its own AI spend is a durable runway, and to say plainly if the price already reflects it.

note: Platform owners of AI demand are absent from the book by construction. AMZN and GOOGL have both pulled back while their capex is the flow our suppliers ride. Worth a look at these prices. why: AMZN −12% off its Aug high, GOOGL −16% off its May high; both fund the AI build-out from their own cash flow rather than depending on it.

Reflection
No funder broke. Sovereigns are still adding to compute, power and platforms. ARGX's gap was a named clinical failure, not flow; CME's record volume is the higher-for-longer volatility trade paying a
The ARGX lesson: when the feed showed no cause, the cause was a trial halt, and missing information resolved against me. I trimmed rather than closed because the core franchise is intact; a myositis miss closes it. Operator notes: XLF — agree on the blind spot, but the single-pillar ETF rule binds, so I own CME instead (MS is a possible future nominee). MCD — still a sound future general open, just not benched this week. META — pass, the price reflects it. GOOGL — durable with the strongest flow, but only via a compute-satellite swap after TSM on Oct 15. AMZN — pass at 0.5% FCF. I lean against

Scarce non-prime supplier of attritable airframes (XQ-58A Valkyrie), hypersonic test vehicles and small turbines, with program positions embedded for a decade. Revenue +32% YoY and the FY guide was raised, but OM is only 0.9% and FCF -7.7%, so it is sized as a satellite. Wind: MACH-TB 2.0 $1.45B IDIQ, >$100M of new space/cyber and GEK800 engine wins, and the FY27 request puts ~$103B on autonomy.
Unwind
Backlog or contract cancellations; FCF still negative through FY2027 with no margin inflection; another discounted equity raise; a full-year FY27 CR freezing production ramps past Dec 11.
Catalyst
Q3 earnings ~Nov 3 (margin and FCF inflection test); Dec 11 CR expiry and FY27 appropriations.
Scenarios · 12mo targets
$50.00 base
$68.00 bull — FY27 appropriations land with the autonomy plus-up, Valkyrie moves to program of record, and OM inflects toward 5% while FCF turns positive.
$28.00 bear — A full-year CR freezes new starts, FCF stays negative, and another discounted raise dilutes holders.

Wind: ARK +50k sh, Zacks Strong Buy on rising estimates, and airline aftermarket demand plus the defense electronics budget.
Unwind
Organic growth <6% with margin compression; a large value-destroying acquisition that breaks tuck-in discipline; a Mendelson succession that removes the capital-allocation culture.
Catalyst
FQ4 earnings ~late Nov; airline aftermarket traffic data; FY27 defense appropriations.
Scenarios · 12mo targets
$335.00 base
$380.00 bull — PMA share gains accelerate as airlines push cost, tuck-ins compound, and EPS growth near 25% holds.

Unwind
A copper price collapse that breaks the deficit thesis; Tia Maria/Los Chancas permitting reversed; a dividend cut signalling stress; nationalist royalty shocks in Peru or Mexico.
Catalyst

I wrote Flow read — No funder broke. Sovereigns are still adding to compute, power and platforms. ARGX's gap was a named clinical failure, not flow; CME's record volume is the higher-for-longer volatility trade paying a Guardrails: clean — §2 caps (12/18% name, 40% pillar, 65% country, 1% floor), §3 exclusions, §5.3 hedge floor, §5.4 cash band, §6.3 buy gate, §6.5d lock all checked; nothing to enforce.
